The Hailstorm model includes all the added features for operation using plastic abrasive. This machine is particularly handy for military applications which require plastic stripping when a seller forgets to add important options.

The Hailstorm Direct Pressure MediaBlaster® sandblasting cabinet is a Production capacity machine specifically designed for operation using plastic abrasive. Production machines are ideal for applications requiring one (1) hour or more of daily machine operation.

Plastic abrasive typically does not alter the surface of the substrate being processed and is available in different hardness to compensate for harder and softer parts. This is beneficial when processing parts or removing paints or powder coatings that have a chemical pretreatment underneath the topcoat you want to remain.

The standard nozzle size for the Hailstorm is Qwikstrip 1/4″ ID using 41 cfm at 40 psi. Smaller nozzle sizes are available for applications with smaller air compressors. Air compressors vary greatly, check the cfm output on the compressor being used or visit Air Basics for more information on compressor selection.
Pro Tip: Never buy a compressor using the displacement cfm number, always use the second cfm volume number listed with 90-100 psi inside the tank, because tank pressure reduces performance.
