R-Blast is a Recycled Brown Alox (RBFA) that has been reclaimed from pressure blasting operations. This “USED” material NO LONGER meets the requirements because of size or contamination. This spent loose grain (which contains no bonded or coated materials) goes through our recycling and cleaning process to yield a product that is comparable in characteristic and performance to Virgin Aluminum Oxide.

R-Blast Processing

Large, non-abrasive particles are removed through a scalping process. The material is air washed and introduced into a rotary kiln furnace. Next, the material is exposed to an open flame that cleans the surface of the particles removing all residual contaminants. Material then passes through a rare-earth magnetic separator prior to screening. A second rare-earth magnetic separator is utilized for all material finer than 90 mesh. All screened materials meet industry specifications for size, characteristics, and chemistry.

The following testing standards are used to determine product characteristics:

R-Blast Testing Standards

  • Size Specifications: ANSI B74.12-2001
  • Bulk Density: ANSI B74.4-1992 R-1997
  • Magnetic Content: ANSI B74.14-1992-R-2000
