Barrel Blast Equipment

Performance and Production You Can Depend On Goff’s Barrel Blast machines are designed for cleaning large volumes of small to medium-sized parts. An endless rubber mill belt gently tumbles and exposes the parts to the abrasive blast. Recognized for their high production and cost effectiveness, Goff offers barrel blast machines that are computer controlled and fully automated, with loader and takeaway conveyor options also available.

Golf Centrifugal Blast Wheel

Blast Wheel:

• The direct drive blast wheel revolves at 3600 RPM for maximum abrasive velocity.  9" diameter wheel with four curved blades 2" wide is standard.  Balanced wheel components assure smooth operation.

Blades:

• Unique snap lock design eases blade replacement.  Cast from abrasive resistant alloy to insure maximum life.  Curved blade design provides maximum abrasive control.

 

Control Cage:

• Dial type cage.

Wheel Housing:

Fabricated from 1/4" wear resistant steel plate.  Housing ends and tops are lined with replaceable wear resistance liners.

Cabinet Construction 

Wheel Housing:

 • Pitless type; Low profile.  Structurally reinforced cabinet is fabricated with 1/4" steel plate.  Access holes in sides of cabinet simplify belt and liner replacement.  Access door in front of cabinet permits removal of tramp metal collected on abrasive screen.  

 

Door:

 • Air operated power lock door.

Mill Construction 

Conveyor:

Molded rubber tumble belt, 2 ply construction with 1/4" diameter abrasive drain holes.  Rubber tumbling ridges are molded directly onto the belt.

Conveyor Rollers:

• Heavy duty rollers have 1-3/16" diameter solid shafts.  All rollers are mounted to the cabinet with standard (4) bolt flange bearings.

Liners:

• 20" diameter barrelheads are 3/8" abrasive resistant steel with special forged retainer bolts.  Tight sealing 1/4" steel cabinet liners removes for belt access.

Conveyor Speed:

• 19 feet per minute.

Capacity:

• 18" wide x 20" diameter mill will handle 1-1/2 cubic feet or 200 lbs.

Abrasive Recycling System

 

Elevator:

• V-Belt bucket elevator provides positive tracking and is easily adjusted.  Heavy duty C section elevator belt has multiple cord construction.  Solid cast iron elevator sheaves.

Abrasive Required:

• 175 pounds initial 

Abrasive Control:

• Fully enclosed butterfly valve is air cylinder operated.  Valve is fully adjustable for positive abrasive flow.

Dust Collector:

• Optional 500 CFM dust collector available. 230/60/single phase or 230/460/60/3 Phase.

• NEMA Type 12 electrical enclosure, thermal overload protection for all motors, optional single phase or three phase operation. 230/460 volt primary, 115 volt secondary control transformer, blast wheel motor ammeter, oil tight push buttons control.  Timer controls both abrasive flow and blast wheel motor. Mill lockout for blast pattern test. Cycle alarm signal and hour meter are standard.

All motors are totally enclosed and fan cooled to provide maximum life. Unit optionally equipped 230 volt single phase or 230/460 volt 3 phase.

Safety Measures 

• Blast Wheel operational only when door is closed.  Electric solenoid prevents cabinet door from opening during blast cycle.

Mill Belt Jam Protection:

Damage to the tumble belt and liners, due to internal jamming of parts, is reduced by an electronic jam monitor. This device monitors current spikes that occur due to part jamming and shuts down the motor when spikes occur. The monitor is load size adjustable by customer.

Liner position and size were designed for ease of maintenance, replacement and access during belt adjustment or removal.

Interlocking door seal prevents abrasive escape. Abrasive resistant liners protect steel door and cabinet top from abrasive rebound. Inner work kick plate baffle keeps parts on conveyor belt, prevents wedging between door and belt.

• Heavy duty 6” screws with solid shafting are chain and sprocket driven and protected by torque limiting clutch.

• Centrifugal discharge belt and bucket elevator is rigid and dust tight. Quick clamped removable doors permit service and inspection. All shaft bearings are exterior mounted for extended life. Screw adjusted shaft take-ups provide positive belt alignment.

Separator:

Ventilation

Dust Collector:

• (optional): 2,000 CFM dust collector is fully self contained and is optional. Collector contains 8 cartridges which are cleaned automatically by a reverse pulse system. Requires 90-100 PSI of air at 7.5 SCFM. Free standing collector will accommodate 55 gallon refuse drum.

Safety Features

Rubber Tumble Belt:

• Continuous molded rubber support belt has 4 ply construction with 3/8” drain holes. Belt provides direct support to the tumble belt for large or heavy capacity loading.
